Phytochemical Analysis of in vitro generated Callus and Leaves of Emilia sonchifolia (L.) DC

Abstract

The current study deals with in vitro callus production from leaf explants and its phytochemical analysis in Emilia sonchifolia (L.) DC. Callus proliferation was achieved on Murashige and Skoog’s (MS) medium fortified with 2,4 D and the maximum was in 7.0 and 8.0 mg·L−1. The callus and intact leaves were analysed for preliminary phytochemical screening using solvents such as benzene, butane and DM water. Quantitative estimation of Total phenol, flavanoids, carbohydrate and protein were also carried out and compared with the leaf extracts.
