HIV causes an incurable infection that leads ultimately to a terminal disease called AIDS. Human immunodeficiency virus infection and acquired immune deficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS) is a spectrum of conditions caused by infection with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).

In order to assess the pre test and post test knowledge level among 1st year B.Sc. Nursing students‘t’ test was used. The mean post test of HIV/AIDS knowledge level score 13.97 is higher than pre test score 11.84.

The‘t’ test value of pre test level and post test level ( t= 11.22, p < 0.05) showed that there was a significant difference between pre test and post test level of knowledge regarding HIV/AIDS.
