Effects of Air Pollution on Micro morphological Structure of Some Broad Leaved Trees in Kathmandu Valley Nepal

Abstract

Plants showed with significant changes in their morphological character in response to pollution. Plants (Ficus religiosa andCinnamomum camphora) were collected from polluted sites (Dhumbarahi, Lainchowr, Balaju and Ratnapark) and less polluted site (Narayanthan).Plants in polluted sites were found withreduction in specific leaf area, size of stomata, thickness of epidermis and cuticle but number of stomata were increseased where as specific leaf area, size of stomata, thickness of epidermis and cuticle in less polluted site were increased with decrease in number of stomata.
