The aim of the study was to find out the effectiveness of Yoga and Occupational Therapy for patients with hemiplegia
- To find out the fall risk in hemiplegic patients
- To educate and train the hemiplegic patients who are prone to fall
Ten subjects with hemiplegic patients who are prone to fall were selected for this study. Berg Balance Scale (BBS) was used for the objective measurement of patients fall risk. The pre and post therapy values were statistically analyzed on the effect of Yoga and Occupational Therapy for patient with hemiplegia.
The statistical analysis of Berg Balance Scale between pre-treatment mean values is 30.10, S.D is 2.211 and post-treatment mean value is 43.40, S.D 4.923, t-test value is -12.6481 and P value is < .00001.
The statistical analysis shows that, there is significant difference between pre-therapy and post-therapy values. The rate of fall was comparatively reduced with early stages of hemiplegia than the later stages.
Yoga and Occupational Therapy can be used effectively as one of the interventions for preventing falls in patients with hemiplegia. Therapists may consider these interventions for patients with hemiplegia.
