Impact of Sublethal Concentrations of Zinc Sulphate on some Haematological parameters of Indian cat fish: Heteropneustes fossilis

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the toxic effect of sublethal concentration of zinc sulphate (131.23mg/l) on the haematological parameters in adult catfish, Heteropneustes  fossilis during different time period from  30 days. At the end of the 30 days exposure period, blood samples were taken from the control and experimental fish. Blood was assayed for selected haematological parameters (Haemoglobin, red blood cell counts, white blood cell counts, differential white blood cell counts, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, and total plasma protein and plasma glucose concentration). The derived haematological indices of mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular haemoglobin (MCH) and mean corpuscular haemoglobin concentration (MCHC) were calculated.
