Impact of intervention programme on intellectual abilities of low performer

This investigation was carried out in rural area of three districts of Haryana state. From each district two villages were selected. Kaimari and Muklan from Hisar district, Kalwan and Danoda from district Jind and from district Kaithal Rohera and Majara villages were selected. Sample of 100 respondents was selected from each village comprising of 50 preschoolers and their mothers. Thus total sample of 600 respondents was observed for this study. In order to find out the existing level of intellectual abilities of respondents standardized scale was used. For measurement of intellectual abilities of preschoolers  the Stanford Binet Intelligence Scale, 1960 was used. After assessment of intellectual development of children low performers were identified from each selected village on the basis of their mean performance. An intervention programme was developed for improvement of intellectual abilities of preschoolers with the help of home based material. Before implementing, the intervention programme was evaluated by 20 experts, and all their suggestions were incorporated. Out of total sample, 20% sample was identified as low performers in each village and intervention programme was administered to these selected children. After implementation of intervention programme on low performers for a period of 3-months, to know the impact of intervention data was calculated by calculating the percentage of increase on the mean value. The significant improvement was found after imparting intervention programme.
